Sex and Internet Dating Over 50

Young daters generally think of dating (and especially internet dating) as their own personal territory. "Move over, Grandpa... I just got my license and I'm ready to drive." But the best dating sites are also full of older internet daters-- and older daters take to the internet format just as well as younger ones. In fact, older singles probably have more fun that younger ones. Did you know that people over the age of 50 have sex on the first date twice as often as people in their 20s or 30s?

That's a lot of fun they're having.

The fact is, as people get older most of them become less rather than more inhibited. Older daters are confident in themselves, they know what they want, and they aren't afraid of making silly mistakes and "ruining their lives". In other words, over 50's often throw themselves full-swing into the mix. Which is a really great thing, and the main reason why internet dating works so well for them.

Beginning dating or internet dating over 50? Sex, of course, is a big part of the fun. And a big part of the reason for dating in the first place. You want a relationship with spark, with passion. After all, you're not young enough to waste time settling for less.

Things to Remember about Over-50 Sex

However, just because you're ready to throw yourself into the mix doesn't mean you shouldn't start off with some caution. You don't want to play the game anymore, and that's good. But there are still some things you need to keep in mind about having sexual relationships over 50.

You're Still at Risk for STDs. Just as they think dating is all about them, younger daters generally believe that the realm of Sexually Transmitted Diseases is theirs, as well. But just because pregnancy isn't an issue after menopause doesn't mean you don't need protection. Sexually transmitted diseases are almost as frequent in older daters as they are in younger ones. In fact, 23 percent of the people diagnosed with HIV in 2008 were 45 years old or older. With AIDS and herpes and other STDs running rampant in all age groups, you have to be careful no matter how old you are.

You're Just as Sexual. You don't have to be young to be hot-- no matter what Hollywood tells you. If you haven't dated for a long time, beginning internet dating might be a little nerve-wracking... you just don't feel like you did when you first started dating. But you're not supposed to! Your wrinkles and gray hair, if you have them, don't take away from your sex appeal. And in losing your youth you gained something else that makes you even more appealing than firm skin and a young face: you gained yourself. Knowing who you are and what you want sexually is very appealing indeed. And it's something no 20-year-old will be able to give a partner.

So, remember, while it doesn't hurt to care for your heath, get fit, and dress well, you carry plenty of hotness on the inside, as well. And that's just what will make the sex you do have incredible.

Sex May Feel Different. When we age, our bodies change. It's a fact of nature. And while you may wish that everything worked in just the same way it did when you were younger or stayed in just the same place it was supposed to, that simply doesn't happen. You've got to work with what you've got, and what you've got is still ultra hot. But if you haven't had sexual relationships in awhile, you may find yourself having to make some adjustments. You may need lubricants or prescriptions that you just didn't need before-- but they certainly don't have to take away from the fun.

As long as you're willing to adjust, to grow, and to experiment sexually, sex should only get better as you get older. Now you're old enough know what you want and how you want it. All that's left is to get out there, put up an internet dating profile, and meet somebody you want to do all of it with. Have fun, and be safe!
