America’s Next Hot Bachelor

Who is Jake Pavelka? Honestly, who the heck cares when he looks like a babe in a half with those washboard abs! Pavelka was selected from last season's The Bachelorette’s rejects to find his true love on TV in front of millions as America’s next bachelor on "reality TV" show, The Bachelor.

His televised journey premiered January 4th. Having completed taping months ago yet still in secrecy about its true outcome, Pavelka did indicate in a pre-interview for the show that he did find one lady who stole his heart out of the twenty-five vying for his attention. Whether or not he actually proposed or if she accepted is left for the viewers to find out. What made Jake Pavelka stand out in the first place to producers of The Bachelor was not his great boyish looks, muscular physique, career as a pilot, his romantic side or his wanting to find true love, a wife and kids. Well, perhaps it was but…

What made him stand out was how he came to be rejected on The Bachelorette to begin with. And even now on commercials for his show, Jake Pavelka parrots his now (in)famous statement; "I'm too perfect" as the explanation of why he is still single and the only reason why he even appeared on the The Bachelorette last season.

I have a hard time understanding his reasoning What I don’t get about this man is how he keeps labeling himself as being perfect. He says that he has been told by many times by many women that he is “too perfect”. Well, if you honestly think that you are too perfect then perhaps that excuse for not having attracted the perfect woman to match your perfection is the problem.

Jake, the true problem is this; You are Not Perfect. Being told that you are is not a crutch. It’s just some women’s opinions about you. Frankly, it’s just their polite and complimentary way of saying; We’re Just Not Into You.

The first thing he had said to the Bachelorette who eventually rejected him on her show was: "I’ve been told I’m too perfect. That’s why I haven’t been able to find a woman." He relied on that label every chance he got like it was an award for being too brilliant, too intelligent, too sexy, or too beautiful. He personally tattooed that in every conversation he had with the men in the house who asked him why he was still single and why he even came on the show. It was damned annoying to hear the same refrain over and over again. It was also kinda sad. This guy genuinely believes that he is “too perfect”.

Relying on labels like "too fat to be asked out" or "too much of a loner to be in a relationship" is just that, a label. If you believe it is true, than that is the story and the life you will lead and attract because of it. In the end you won’t have a relationship. You’ll be alone; dating your label. So of course I will sneak peeks into The Bachelor to see how his journey goes.

But Jake, no. Honey, if you were too perfect, you’d be everything for every woman. And that wouldn’t be so, right? I can’t wait to see who you do pick as your perfect lady. And who also picks you because you are no longer “perfect”! See you on Monday nights, Jake.
